During the Anzac Day long weekend, we were driving towards Jervis Bay when we decided to stop by Werri Beach, Gerringong for a quick lunch. I first visited this stunning location in 2016, and the green rolling hills and expansive crystal blue shoreline had left me breathless. It felt incredible to step onto the rocky terrain again, surrounded by such immense natural beauty.
Ourie Pool at Werri Beach, NSW, Australia, is a unique ocean pool nestled within the natural rock formations. Unlike many constructed ocean pools, Ourie Pool blends seamlessly with its surroundings, offering swimmers a picturesque and tranquil spot to enjoy the ocean’s refreshing waters while being protected from the surf. It’s a perfect example of how nature and human ingenuity can come together to create a serene swimming experience
It was constructed in the 1930s as a community project during the Great Depression. This charming pool offers a safe and picturesque spot for swimming, nestled against the stunning backdrop of the rugged coastline, making it a favorite among locals and visitors.

It was a busy afternoon due to the public holiday, but we were fortunate to find an empty beach bench where we enjoyed our meal. Afterwards, we walked to the Gerringong Whale Watching platform. Although it wasn’t the right season to spot any whales, the weather was absolutely beautiful.
After finishing our walk we continued the journey to Jervis Bay.
