A castle from crumbles | Short Poem on life

All my life, I didn’t pay attention
to the wolves laughing behind my back
I was engrossed
trying to build a castle – from crumbles
a bit of poetry
stroke of a brush
a haphazard bundle of happiness and ridiculous dreams
mind brimming with ideas

but you see,
the subconscious is a fickle friend
in the silence of the night, it whispers
things you thought
you have never heard before
and for once, I feel bad
for that naive version of me
trying to light up the sky
with a flashlight

It has taken me a long time to understand the underlying meaning of what people used to say. I am not very good at understanding sarcasm, even now. But I am glad I was naive, because I remained focused on creating my dream life. One track mind ain’t too bad.

  1. It’s taken me a long time to reach a stage where I want to focus on creating my world, work on my life, work on creating that which gives me happiness, and ignore the voices of the world that would threaten to pull me down.
Loved this poem, Raj. It made me thank the universe for teaching me this lesson.

  2. A thought-provoking poem Raj. That naive version of ourselves is not so bad. Even though one is in a bubble, at least one is creating something – a castle out of crumbs is better than no castle at all.

  3. Wow thanks for sharing this Raj. I loved reading this and it’s true. From thinking that everyone can only wish the best for others to understanding that not everyone thinks the best for you is a big learning for me. It truly doesn’t matter as long as we focus on our life. It’s easier this way Raj, not being able to read between the lines saves us from thinking too much.
