A Whimsical Medley – Is my theme for the A to Z Challenge !! Hope you smile today 🙂

His eyes almost rolled back into his head, flabbergasted he asked me again.
“Yes yes, it’s after three days Bhaiya”, I replied.
Not knowing how to react, he kept staring at me, with an amusing grin, probably contemplating whether to laugh, cry or waive me off as a prank. This has never happened in his store before and he was pretty sure I would be the only weird customer.
“Madam, it is not even possible.”
There was a huge list of things to be done, and not even the first one was completed, which obviously was to find a wedding dress. Mehendi, Makeup, hairstyle, nothing was booked. I smiled and articulated each word with extreme patience, but the monstrous bride was slowly stirring in me.

“Listen Bhaiya, after searching in three cities, this is what I choose. My wedding is in three days. You and I, we don’t have any option. I want to wear THIS Lehenga. You have to get it stitched on time!!”
The storekeeper, thankfully, sensed the urgency. No one can understand the ferociousness of a bride other than the bridal dress sellers.
Believe it or not, the evening before my wedding, I was at the shop collecting my Lehenga Choli. Bhaiya again reminded me how this had never happened before: that a bride was collecting her dress at such short notice.
But guess what I was did later in the evening, walked the length and breath of Birdie Shopping area with my sister and the groom, shopping for his wedding clothes 😛 Yeah, we are a couple like that!!
That’s my wedding dress 😀 |
My sister did my makeup and hair (once I confirmed that she would be given a hefty bribe 😛 ), while a roadside Mehendi’wala did my Bridal Mehendi. The funny thing is I got my Mehendi done only because I was waiting for the tailor to finish the last stitches on my Lehenga.
I am sure most would have their own amusing wedding story. So what’s yours?
Along with Claire, Parul and Shalini we have formed an Unconventional Alliance with A to Z co-host Pam Margolis as the ring leader … all set to rock the party.

Man, I would have gone crazy if that would have been the case with the lehenga! You're a brave heart, for sure!
My wedding was fun and all I had to worry about was reaching the stage on time and be done with the rituals 🙂
Cheers

Hahaha quite a bridezilla you were 😛
I have similar stories from my wedding story. It was a mad rush till the last minute as every arrangement was managed by me and my husband. I had gone to tailor the day before wedding to alter my blouse. He was nice and sensitive to get my thing done on time.Your story made me reminisce mine.

:O I have no words. Never in my life I would show this blog to my mom. I told whole three whole months to select my lehenga. After that time I fought with two people for ruining my Sangeet Lehenga which finally I got from the third shop in twenty days after so much pleading!!! You are just amazing who could do this…
LOL that was quite a risk! What if he had refused to do it in three days!!
