Yoga Every Damn Day – As a part of A to Z April Blogging challenge, I am going to post a series of Yoga poses. Don’t worry I will keep it simple and crisp… and try not to make it boring.
Bakasana (Crane/Crow pose)
Hey look I am a crow!! I can hold this pose for just a few breaths. This arm-balance almost kills my wrists. Takes lots of practice and strength to hold it for long. I usually practice arm balances towards the end of my yoga flow as by that time my body is warmed up.
Benefits are:
“Strengthens arms and wrists. Stretches the upper back. Strengthens the abdominal muscles. Opens the groin. Tones the abdominal organs.” source PocketYoga
We need to have good strengths in our hands I guess for this one. Isn't it?
yeah good upper body strength and strong core.
Wow, you are like a pretzel! That looks hard.Good for you. PHEW! I get tired just looking at the photos.
Hahahha ROFL … thank you Cathy 🙂
You're the only person I know who can actually do this asana!!
Thank you so much Bhavya 🙂
I wish I could do that. That must take a lot of strength, mind and body.

Thanks a lot 🙂
Looks difficult to practice…one has to be careful enough not to fracture hands I suppose.:)
If not done right it puts a lot of pressure on elbows. Thanks for writing in.
Wow – I'd be flat on my face the moment I tried anything like that. I am impressed.

it is still tough for me to maintain 🙂 thnks for writing in
Wow! You are so fit. I think I can never do the bakasana in my lifetime! 😐
Thank you so much Shilpa 😀 With practice for sure you can do it 🙂
This looks difficult.. and balancing on hands is v difficult.
I find arm balances very tough … takes a lot of effort to get it right
Thanks
Never tried yoga, but this looks wonderful. anne stenhouse
thank you Anne 😀
This is indeed a difficult pose and I can only do one leg at a time. You have nailed it 🙂
Good one Rajlakshmi 🙂
Thank you so much 😀
WOW, Raj. Great going. I never mastered this one yet. 🙂
thank you Vinitha 😀
Totally impressed! This is one of the difficult Yoga posture, Rajlakshmi!
thank you so much Rahul 🙂
Oh My! This is a pose I haven't tried even once! Looks difficult!!
Betrayed
I found it difficult at first.. still do 🙂 thanks
I apologize if this posts twice. Google sent me through a redirect. Previously, I stated that this makes my forearms hurt just looking at it, and that I always found the poses that required arm strength to be among the most difficult back when I was doing yoga. However, they also create beautiful lines as evidenced in the photo above.
I find arm balances so challenging, mostly because I am still building my upper body strength. Yeah they do look beautiful 😀 Thanks for stopping by .
oh Wow I think you are doing well even with a few breaths. Awesome.
thank you so much Suzy
It is one of the toughest!!! you nailed it, princess 😀
I used to do a half- crow pose most of the time… 🙂
thanks Roh 😀 yeah I too do few half crows 🙂
No way could I do this! That's awesome girl!
hehehe thanks a lot 😀 But I am sure you will be able to nail it
This one always hurts the backs of my arms where my knees sit, like I'm resting too much of my weight there. Based on what you said about "benefits," I think I might not be using my abdominal muscles enough to pull weight up and out maybe?
I use my core to pull up the hips and shift the weight on shoulders. Takes a lot of effort 🙂 Thanks for writing in.
Never heard of this one. You explained it well. Keep up the good work. Cheers!

Thank you Shanaya 🙂
Haven't tried this pose till now. Looks intricate.
Requires strength in shoulders and core … with practice I am sure you will nail it 🙂
wow!! you managed to get this!! :O how did you strengthen your arms & wrist to be able to do this!! I guess I have a long way to go!! 🙁
I still can't do too many of them… guess all the wall handstands I did were helpful in strengthening my shoulders. 🙂 You will be there soon re 🙂
One of the most unique posts I have come across 🙂
thank you Sushree 😀
Just started Yoga and haven't see this one yet. Which is good. Where I'm at, this pose would kill me. 🙂
hahaha 😀 I am sure you will be doing this with ease soon 🙂
