Bakasana

Yoga Every Damn Day – As a part of A to Z April Blogging challenge, I am going to post a series of Yoga poses. Don’t worry I will keep it simple and crisp… and try not to make it boring.

Bakasana (Crane/Crow pose)

Hey look I am a crow!! I can hold this pose for just a few breaths. This arm-balance almost kills my wrists. Takes lots of practice and strength to hold it for long. I usually practice arm balances towards the end of my yoga flow as by that time my body is warmed up.

Benefits are:
Strengthens arms and wrists. Stretches the upper back. Strengthens the abdominal muscles. Opens the groin. Tones the abdominal organs.” source PocketYoga

Day 1 – Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog)

  2. I apologize if this posts twice. Google sent me through a redirect. Previously, I stated that this makes my forearms hurt just looking at it, and that I always found the poses that required arm strength to be among the most difficult back when I was doing yoga. However, they also create beautiful lines as evidenced in the photo above.

  3. This one always hurts the backs of my arms where my knees sit, like I'm resting too much of my weight there. Based on what you said about "benefits," I think I might not be using my abdominal muscles enough to pull weight up and out maybe?

  4. wow!! you managed to get this!! :O how did you strengthen your arms & wrist to be able to do this!! I guess I have a long way to go!! 🙁
