Hills meet the Sea – Mt Pleasant Lookout

I have visited Kiama and Gerringong area just once while driving to Jervis Bay, and ever since my heart was set, in those luscious light green hills. So I had made it a point to stop by during my Road Trip and enjoy the view in peace. You can read more about my 8 days Road Trip here – Road Trip Sydney to 12 Apostles

On Day1 of my Roadtrip, I walked along Sea cliff bridge, stopped by few more lookouts before driving to Kiama. I was famished by the time I reach the blowhole. Stopped for lunch at one of Kiama’s fish and chips caffes and then drove towards Mt Pleasant, which I had read provided a beautiful coastal and Hilly view. True to it it’s name, it was absolutely pleasant.

I almost missed seeing the sign and it wasn’t until I saw the turn that I realized the place was near.

The dark clouds had gathered afar, while a stray sunlight was peeking from one of the cloud. The blue coast, in contrast with jade hued sprawling meadows looked like a painting. So still and vibrant.

Don’t forget to pack a picnic lunch. There are a lot of scenic places nearby, so driving all the way here isn’t a waste.

The lookout is right on Princess Highway. Keep watching for the sign because if you miss it, you might have to drive a long way before you get a chance to take a turn back. After crossing the Mt Pleasant, stay on Princess Highway to enjoy the gorgeous views of countryside. You will be amazed by the change in scene and the winding roads around the hills.

  2. Thank you so much for linking into Nature Notes!!! I love reading about people's traveling experiences because it gives me a chance to sit and visit a place I will probably never see. I have a couple of friends who live in Australia and I would love to visit as justified by your photos. Packing a lunch and stopping along the way is perfect for scenery like this.. Michelle

  3. Oh rats, why can't the Mt.Pleasant I live near have a sea view and rolling GREEN hills! I have been to Kiama but did not know of this Mt.Pleasant then. What a pity.

  4. It is a lovely drive and a great look out. That's what I love about road trips — the ability to just visit any place based on the signs you see…

  5. That picnic table looks immensely inviting. and as always the colours in your pictures jump out at me. Lovely post.

  6. My sis has been to Kiama and I guess she also sat on one of these benches there! I agree these are gorgeous sights!
