Postcards – That Wanderlust Girl

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
– J.R.R Tolkien

Our world is an unbelievably beautiful place. The rivers run wild, into the ocean, deep and blue, almost invincible. The mountains rise high, lush green, home to innumerable species of life. Ever watched the dance of colors at dawn, without being mesmerized by the beauty of nature?

I feel so small, so insignificant as I look upon the massive sea, coolly reflecting the color of sky. Magnificent, Frightening yet Peaceful.

I have spent a major part of my childhood in hilly areas, watching clouds gather around the hilltops, walking on foggy roads, running through small patchy paths between tea gardens and rice fields. Nature inspires me, with it’s silent beauty, it’s bewitching colors and fascinating creativity.

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils; – Wordsworth

As the time passes by, I wonder if I would ever be able to see all the wonders of the world. If I would ever gape at the splendor of Northern Lights, or wake up to a midnight sun. Will I be amazed by the glowing beach at Maldives or touch the pink lake?

The more I travel and explore new places, interact with people and relish different cuisines, the stronger is the feeling of Wanderlust. I fear being cocooned in our world of indifference, where nature is slowly losing it’s value, where wars have scourged thousand lives, where greed has lead to the extinction of beautiful species.

“And it’s over the hills or bust;
For there’s never a cure
When you list to the lure
Of the Wan-der-lust” – Robert William

No, there is no cure… I am the crazy wanderlust girl 🙂

  1. you're not the only one being bewitched by nature..I am, too…for a long time…love to read your heart reflection coupled with beautiful photos…cheers…

  2. Superb pics! I hope I get to visit at least half of the places you've visited. Have to wait for kiddo to grow a couple of years older.
