Afar climbs down the gold-coated sunbeam,
Skyscrapers reaching psychedelic dreams,
Time stood still, with me, at the quay,
Watching the green ferry slowly sail away.

And never to return from your dreamland,
Glamour snatched your heart, I understand,
But why do still these memories clench,
while dewdrops form on an empty park bench,
I would stop playing your promises sweet,
If only the cassette was not stuck on repeat.
Glamour snatched your heart, I understand,
But why do still these memories clench,
while dewdrops form on an empty park bench,
I would stop playing your promises sweet,
If only the cassette was not stuck on repeat.

Well done!
I love the line "And never to return from your dreamland".
What meaningful lines… Sad and haunting.
You have some great imagery in this one and some truly magical lines. Brilliantly done on this piece! ♥
Ah, what a lovely poem. The ending is beautiful.
Quite an imagery there, Rajlakshmi…the last 2 lines are so beautiful.
Stuck on repeat… yes, that makes the heartbreak, all the more painful!
The imagery is great-Love the Skyscraper sentence-this is excellent and so true that all of us can relate to doing this at least once
Oh, those repeated promises!
