Fairy Tale no more

The unicorns and daffodils,

of fairy tales yonder,

have long deserted me,
in the whirlwind of reality,

while I hear their laughter,

echoing through frozen time,

mocking my naivety,
their raspy tongues slash,

deepening the wound,

then why I wait, still,

in between dreams and

flickering promises.
