[Thursday Poet’s Rally]::Listen to the sighs!!!::

Written for  Jingle’s Thursday Poet’s Rally

Listen to the Sighs!!!

maimed by cancerous dust
lurking behind a shadow of
incessant greed, blind to howls of nature.
Endangered by our folly, deep gash
bedecks its lovely face,
wilting ageless

mellowed voices,
buried by grinding teeth
of metallic saws, beheading
glorious elements of graceful life,
clawed by selfish desires, still
with every dying hope
whimpering sighs
Form :: Rictameter
Rictameter is a scheme similar to Cinquain. Starting your first line with a two syllable word, you then consecutively increase the number of syllables per line by two. i.e. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 Then down again, 8, 6, 4, 2 Making the final line the same two syllable word you began with.

  1. It is always nice to experiment with more forms of poem writing. It simply gives you options apart from giving great structure to your poems.

The message here is very clear and you have chosen a very graphic image that goes well with the poem. Humankind is awakening to this truth. A bit late, but not too late. Things can be rectified, but it needs quick action. I hope more artistically inclined people such as yourself can write more wonderful pieces like this to motivate people to be part of the action and save the beauty.

    Have a nice Sunday. Cheers!
