I am not someone who gets homesick a lot. And after all these years of staying away from home and building my own life, homesickness doesn’t come often. But there are times when I long for the old times, to gather with my family on the porch in the evening and chat nonstop, with endless laughter, while Mom and Mahi would keep bringing homemade snacks.

Here’s a poem expressing similar emotions – Joseph Star Poetry Form

Home Calling

Warm
Lush garden
Twinkling shiny dew
Mom awaits my arrival
Blossoms singing age-old songs
Slowly I recall
Memories
Home

Although the poetry form has a strict syllable count and structure, I feel it is a great way to introduce kids to poetry.
