My theme for this year’s #atozchallenge is – 26 Yogasana. So brace yourself for 26 days of stretching, backbends and inversions, as I take you along my upside down evenings, sincerely hoping that you will find these posts helpful 🙂
Garudasana or Eagle Pose
This is the closest I could ever look like one of those Kunfu Panda Warriors … ready to pounce with my twisted arms and legs 😛
This pose helps to improve balance and if you have trouble balancing, then practice near the wall or take the support of a high chair or table. The flexibility will come slowly with practice.
Disclaimer: I am not an Instructor or Yoga teacher, only a regular Hatha Yoga practitioner who is passionate about fitness. I am writing this series to detail my learning and experience during the practice. Please consult a Physician/Doctor before starting any exercise regime as some of the poses might contradict with your existing medical issues, for example injuries related to spinal cord, knee, ankle, wrists, neck, medical conditions like Migraine, Diabetics, Asthma etc.

Eagle? Shouldn’t Crane be more appropriate (I’m just thinking out loud here).
This looks “try-able” though. I’ll send you pictures of the fractures.
O yes! I remember trying this asan and falling on either side! It’s really difficult and I wonder how you do it?!
Cheers
Yay! I actually attempted this, Rajlakshmi 🙂
So impressed with your theme, and fitness!! Go, you! Double thumbs up!
I’m the laziest-bone couch potato in the history of couching or potatoeing – can I call it an asana also? It’s also a pose, right? 😀
Nilanjana
Madly-in-Verse
It’s good for migraine! I have to do this!
Yay! Finally something I have actually been able to do. I bet though, you can hold that pose for 20 minutes unlike me who could hold it for about 3 minutes! 😛
I used to go to yoga class during school days. I remember this aasana clearly because while practicing this, my friend fell on me and I, trying to balance, held the hand of another and pulled her down with me too 😀 the teacher was too shocked to react for few seconds!
I think I will do this with my daughter. She does all this pretty well.I have to work harder.
You have got such poise, Raji! Perfect!
Wow! I think only experts can do this asana. I am guessing that it works on a lot of body parts… legs, toes, arms, shoulders, tummy, back…
Wow, this looks like something Master Crane could do easily, but not me 😛
Wait. Aren’t you standing on your toes in this? Toes of only one foot?
I currently have difficulty in standing still on the toes of BOTH my feet!
Your theme is interesting. At one point i’ could do most of the asanas with ease. Now, I don’t think my body is that flexible to do most of the asanas but will sure try this one. Looks easy.

But why eagle? :O :O
And yeah, I will stand along the wall and do this! 😛
That looks pretty close to me! Great to know this exercise for improving balance. Something we will all probably need help with as we age.

I think I need to do something like this one to improve my balance. I tried yoga years ago and enjoyed it but I think I frustrated the teacher with my lack of coordination.
Thanks for visiting my blog.

I’ve tried this one. I so want to go back to Yoga, don’t know what’s stopping me!! Sigh.

So this is what it is called huh?
THIS I can actually try. Provided I don’t end up on the floor all crumpled up 😛
