Yogasana: Can you Plow? #atozchallenge

My theme for this year’s #atozchallenge is – 26 Yogasana. So brace yourself for 26 days of stretching, backbends and inversions, as I take you along my upside down evenings, sincerely hoping that you will find these posts helpful 🙂

Halasana or Plow Pose

Plow pose or Halasana is an inversion that stretches the shoulders and the back. I find this extremely relaxing and love the stretch I feel at the back. Do not over stretch if your toes can’t reach the floor, there’s a high risk of pinching the nerve or straining the neck. Breath normally and move slowly, controlling the motion of the body.

Apart from making you feel good in the shoulders, Halasana stimulates the Thyroid gland and helps in improving immunity.

  1. It doesn’t look so simple to me. I am a bit hesitant and scared of pulling ALL the muscles in my body. How much time did you need in your yoga journey to reach the point of being able to do this aasan with ease? I am curious.

Thanks for sharing. Have a look at this Book Review on 2016’s bestseller Psycho Thriller.

  2. This pose was a big challenge when i used to practice yoga before. I wouldn’t be able to extend my back and my hip joint was stiff. As the years went by, I was still pretty reluctant to practice this pose because it didn’t come naturally at all

  3. I can only do this halfway through. However, I haven’t tried it in a long time. Not sure if I can do even halfway through with the kind of weight I have put on recently. 🙁
