Please let me drown in the Dishwasher

I was in the office kitchen, loading the dishwasher with dirty dishes. Every week a Kitchen Duty roster is prepared and a team of 7-8 employees are randomly picked to share the responsibility of maintaining the general cleanliness of the office kitchen.

I was too busy looking down, figuring out where to cramp that extra coffee-stained cup. Someone walked by and said Hello. I replied with a cheery Hello and looked up, only to see that the most gorgeous guy in the office had said hello into the phone.

In that flash of a second I wondered if there was enough space in the dishwasher for me jump in and drown. The fridge is big too, I could throw out all the food and freeze inside.

We both laughed out aloud. He was courteous enough to keep the other person on hold, and apologized for not saying Hello to me first … I was too embarrassed and managed to replied only in vowels.

With that I stuffed that extra coffee cup somewhere in the corner and ran to my desk. People wonder why I don’t loiter around the kitchen any more.

  1. Haha! Funny,I keep having such things, although I hate it. Like for instance I went to the theatre the other day, showing off that my friend booked the ticket for me as an act of forgiveness, just to be face palmed. The ticket was for the previous day and I was arguing with the guy checking the ticket. Very embarrassing.

  2. hahaha…Okay…once someone called on our landline and asked for Dad.. This is what I did – I asked him to hold and then instead of calling out 'Dad' , I yelled 'hello' next to the phone! So, I keep getting embarrassed all the time ..There is not enough space in any dish washer in the world to hide me;)

  3. That was pretty embarrassing esp from the most gorgeous man in the premise. I sympathize with you cos I had somewhat the same experience from the guy I had a crush in my previous office. Oh God! He was so damn handsome. πŸ˜€

  4. Yes, I've done things like that. I have some good news – as you grow older, it is harder for you to become embarrassed. But, it can still happen. (And, maybe I should look for an office with a dishwasher).

  5. Too good Raj! I'm still laughing thinking of how many such moments I've had over time…that would beat yours anyday! All in good stride, I guess! πŸ˜€

  6. Gosh, this is totally hilarious. It even beats those moments when you wave your hand to someone thinking they are smiling at you, but they are actually smiling at someone behind you! πŸ˜€
