A Whimsical Medley – Is my theme for the A to Z Challenge !! Hope you smile today 🙂
*****************
Now that we have moved into a new home with a backyard, my husband and I are hell bent on raising a vegetable and herbs garden. I grew up in a home where both my Mom and Dad are excellent gardeners. Probably because they have spent a good part of their childhood farming on their lands. Back home we have all sorts of Palm, pine and big leafy plants in our living room. Knowing my love for gardening, my Aunt and cousins gifted me this beautiful Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum ) and a succulent as a house warming present.
Right now tomatoes, chives, coriander, parsley and chili have started sprouting in my makeshift nursery. Orange and pomegranate haven’t made any appearance yet. I am so impatient that I keep checking the pots now and then to see if anything popped out of the soil. Sometimes I even prod with a stick thinking probably they are not finding enough space to grow up, until my husband asks me to leave them alone.
To further grow our garden we needed a good nursery. After researching on Internet, I zeroed in on Narara Valley Nursery where we bought about 40 plants at an awesome rate.
Since we already had some growing mix, we transferred all the flowering ones to new pots. Oh how pretty they look!!
The Sunday market nearby had a store selling beautiful ceramic pots which we bought for the indoor plants. Instead of plate, these pots have stopper underneath (which I hope will prevent water spillage)
I have even started propagating my Echeveria. Two days ago I had no idea what that meant, but now all I think and read about is succulent propagation, stretching, light conditions etc etc etc, all thanks to Google baba 😛
Found an old cup, gifted by my best friend 9 years ago, to pot my lovely round cactus. These days all I do is hunt shops for cute little pots to plant my little succulent collection. I absolutely adore them, but I need to find a proper place in my house where they get adequate sunshine.
Along with Claire, Parul and Shalini we have formed an Unconventional Alliance with A to Z co-host Pam Margolis as the ring leader … all set to rock the party.

At home, we do have the luxury of a decent yard so its pretty much everything u can think of – bananas, mangoes, coconuts, pepper, brinjal, red spinach. The roof area is dedicated to flowers and potted plants

Love your plan for the garden. Good luck and a green thumb.
We just started planting a few herbs and tomato plants this week. I get so excited this time of year, though I'm not very good at it. I keep trying.
I don't garden like I used to and I do miss it. I still have one echeveria on the window sill in the kitchen and it keeps on growing.

I am loving this Raj! My mantra of going green is yours too….yayy! I am so envious of that prize catch lined up on your table! The succulents are pretty hardy and a delight to have around. The containers you get here in India are mind-boggling, maybe you can pick them from here next visit.
Cheers

It's really amazing! Specially using the cup that your friend gifted you to pot the cactus. Finally got a cool idea for using all the cups I have in my showcase 😀
